The purpose of this scholarship is to support students who completed high school in Mellen, WI, or a nearby rural community, who are pursuing a degree at Northland College. In an effort to support the rural community from which Mr. Lockhart haled as a youth, preference is given to graduates from the Mellen community, but scholarship applicants may be accepted from school districts that include High Bridge, Park Falls, and Glidden.
The recipient(s) will receive $8,000 annually for the full four years of the student's academic career at Northland. The recipient(s) will be selected by representatives of the Northland College Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid. Graduating high school seniors must submit all application requirements by March 1, 2025 for consideration. The recipient(s) will be chosen based upon their academic merit, and their demonstration of leadership, initiative, and self-motivation that displays a potential to rise above the ordinary in some approved field of endeavor. To retain the four-year scholarship, each recipient must show reasonable progress toward a degree and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 as reviewed annually at the end of the school year.When applicable, applicants will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have it sent to Northland using our school code (003875).
